Autumn Bucket List: 11 Cosy Activities To Do At Home

Autumn Bucket List

Are you ready to fully embrace the colder months with these mindful Autumn Bucket List ideas? Instead of fighting off boredom, use this season to slow down and find joy in the little things. This list of cosy activities will help you make the most of your time at home and cultivate a more soulful living lifestyle.

Without sounding too biased, autumn is truly the best season ever. The crisp air, the falling leaves and that undeniable urge to slow down and get cosy. It’s the perfect time for rest and introspection – a seasonal reminder to turn inward after the high energy of summer. This is an excellent way to say hello to anti-hustle culture and embrace the slow seasons.

This post is all about finding intentional self-care and healing through cosy Autumn Bucket List activities that you can enjoy right in your own home.

1. Create a Cosy Reading Nook

Grab a cosy blanket, light a candle, brew some tea and grab a stack of your favourite autumnal reads. By creating a dedicated space for rest, you can romanticise this simple activity into a cherished self-care ritual.

2. Master a New Autumnal Baking Recipe

I don’t know about you, but I become a baking connoisseur during the autumn season – apple crumbles, pumpkin pies, cinnamon buns, you name it! How can you not when all of the best foods are eaten during autumn (completely not biased..). Next time you find yourself having a cosy day at home, challenge yourself to bake something new. The smell of freshly-baked goods filling your home is a reward in itself!

3. Have a “Cosy Night In” Film Marathon

Much like food, I firmly believe that the best films are watched during autumn (we’re talking horrors, obviously!). Whether you’re a horror fanatic or you prefer classic, comforting TV, this is the perfect time for a movie marathon. If you want to make it extra special, then why not invite some friends or family over and create a fun spread of autumnal snacks to really get into the spirit of the season. This is truly one of my favourite activity ideas for October.

4. Write in Your Journal with a Warm Drink

Autumn is the perfect time for inner work and deep reflection. One of the most powerful ways that you can do this is by putting pen to paper (literally or digitally – your preference!). It’s time to create a new mindful routine with the power of journaling. There’s just something so cathartic about letting your mind wander as your pen hits the paper. Here are a few journal prompts to get you started:

  • What am I ready to release this season to make space foe rest?
  • What seeds did I plant this Spring that have come into fruition?
  • What were my biggest lessons from the Summer and how can I integrate them into my life now?
  • What does “cosy” feel like to me right now and how can I create more of it?
  • What are the simple joys that I’m noticing this season (the smell of rain, a warm drink, a specific colour)?
  • How can I nourish my mind and body to prepare for the colder months ahead?
  • What Autumn activities make me feel more grounded (baking, reading, or walking in nature)?

5. Create a Seasonal Home Reset Checklist

If we’re going to be spending more time at home, then we might as well make sure that it feels like a space that truly supports and nourishes us. Having a seasonal home reset on our Autumn Bucket List to declutter, organise and “nest” for the colder months will ensure that we can make the very most of the slow seasons ahead.

Mindful Routines

6. Start a New Cosy Hobby

Cosy living content creators are truly becoming a new guilty pleasure of mine. There are SO many cosy hobbies that you can explore from the comfort of your own home. Brainstorm a few mindful activities that have been sparking your interest and set aside some time to build a new skill. Need some inspiration for self care hobbies? YouTube and TikTok are your best friends! My favourite creator at the moment is Cosy K, and her YouTube and TikTok videos will definitely get you inspired to slow down and get cosy.

7. Indulge in a Self-Care Spa Night

What truly makes you feel like your most empowered and divine self? A hot bubble bath, cosy candle, sheet mask, crisp glass of wine and a feel-good playlist? I don’t know about you, but that’s my idea of a very good night in. As the season shifts, use this time to review your current skincare and beauty routine. Does it work for your current skin needs? You want to ensure that you’re using products that are going to hydrate and protect the skin barrier. Once you’ve found your perfect match, why not indulge in that self care bath?

8. Get Lost in a New Book

There’s just something about reading a cosy fiction book in autumn. I think the only word I can use to describe it is.. magical? Since we’ve got a bit more time on our hands at home during this season, then why not start that book that’s been on our wish list for the past few months? Here are some of my favourite reads for your Autumn Bucket List. Heads up – this is a great self-care ritual for the perfect evening routine.

  • In the Weeds – B.K. Borison
  • The Pumpkin Spice Café – Laurie Gilmore
  • The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic – Breanne Randall
  • The October Witches – Jennifer Claessen
  • The Cinnamon Book Store – Laurie Gilmore
  • Book Lovers – Emily Henry

9. Brew Your Own Herbal Tea Blend

Unleash your inner herbalist and put those hands to work by creating your own herbal brew. The healing power of certain herbs is absolutely astonishing, and there’s something meditative about putting together your own blend. Just be sure to do some thorough research on herbology before you start to make sure that you’re using safe, tummy-friendly herbs.

10. Practice a Guided Autumn Meditation

Meditation is a really powerful practice for connecting with your inner world and embracing more mindfulness in your life. You can find a ton of resources online, particularly on YouTube, with guides that walk you through the entire process. It’s also a great resource for yoga flows, sound baths and lo-fi and ambient sounding music as well!

11. Have a Digital Detox Day

It’s hard to do anything these days without technology, but intentionally unplugging and being present in the moment is so incredibly freeing. While it may be a tad bit easier in the summer, when you can get lost in a hike for hours, there’s still plenty that you can do to occupy yourself during the slower months at home – especially with the ideas on this list!

How to Use Your Autumn Bucket List

I love, love, love creating bucket lists. They get me so inspired and excited for the season ahead. But remember, this isn’t a to-do list to be completed.

Instead, think of it as a menu of delightful little things that are going to light you up when you have the time and energy to do them. The key is to be present and truly savour each moment, not just check off a box.

This post was all about Cosy Activities that you can do at home this Autumn for intentional self-care and healing.
